On June 19, 2004 the first annual FOTBS dragonfly class and
field trip was held at the Douglas County Wildlife Management Area. The class, "Ecology and Identification
of Dragonflies of Northern Wisconsin" was taught by Robert DuBois, a DNR
Research Scientist.
Following the class, Bob lead a dragonfly walk that
examined dragonflies found on two of the DCWMA depressional wetlands. 15
species were identified and are shown below. Everyone had a great time!
What's with the Latin names you ask? Well,
that's just the way most dragonfly experts talk. If you want to
call it Green Darner instead of Anax junius, that's fine.
These wonderful images are provided by June
Tveekrem and Blair Nikula.
